Microcement in Indonesia — Seamless Floors & Walls

PLASTER LAB · Updated 2 October 2026

Microcement is a thin, seamless cement-based coating — about 2–3 mm — applied by trowel over floors, walls, stairs and even furniture, then sealed. No joints, no grout lines, one continuous mineral surface with a soft concrete look. PLASTER LAB applies PRATTA Exclusive microcement systems across Bali, Jakarta and the rest of Indonesia, with the same written mold-free guarantee that covers all of our mineral finishes.

What microcement is

Unlike poured concrete, microcement needs no formwork and adds almost no structural weight. It bonds over existing substrates — render, concrete, gypsum board, and in renovations even over old tiles — which is why it has become the default choice for seamless bathrooms and modern interiors. The surface is hand-trowelled, so every wall carries a subtle, cloudy movement that flat paint cannot imitate, and the final sealer coats make it water-resistant and cleanable.

Where it works: bathrooms, floors, facades

Bathrooms and wet rooms are microcement territory: with no grout lines there is nothing to blacken, and floor, wall and basin can read as one continuous surface. Floors in living areas take foot traffic well and pair naturally with underfloor-level thresholds — see our detailed guide to microcement flooring in Indonesia for build-up, pros and cons. On walls and stairs it creates the architectural concrete look without the weight, and in protected exterior areas it extends the same language outdoors. In Indonesian humidity the critical factor is the system: substrate preparation, the right primer, and sealer coats applied by a trained crew.

Price per m²

Microcement is priced per square metre, and the honest answer is that the number depends on the substrate condition, the areas involved (a shower wall costs more per metre than an open floor), the chosen finish and the total volume. Send us your room list and approximate areas on WhatsApp and we reply with a written per-m² quote and a sample plan — ask for a quote on WhatsApp.

Process and timeline

Every project starts with a site survey: we check the substrate, moisture and levels, and bring physical material samples before you commit. Application then runs in layers — primer, two base coats, two finish coats, then sealing — each with its own curing window. We confirm the exact schedule for your areas in the quote, and every project is handed over with a final inspection by a technologist, warranty documentation and care instructions.

Mold-free guarantee

We are the only contractor in Indonesia with an official, documented mold-free guarantee on our mineral coatings. For microcement in wet areas that matters twice over: the system is applied as one sealed, vapour-managed build-up, and we put the promise in writing at handover.

Microcement projects we have delivered

Recent work includes Alex Villas in Canggu (220 m² of seamless stone finishes and microcement) and HQC Villa Premium (350 m² of microcement floors and spa elements). See the full list with photos on our projects page.

FAQ

Can microcement be applied over old tiles?

Yes — in renovations microcement is regularly applied over sound existing tiles after priming, which avoids demolition. The substrate must be stable and dry; we verify this at the site survey.

Is microcement waterproof enough for showers?

As a sealed system, yes. The sealer coats make the surface water-resistant and there are no grout lines to fail. Wet zones get a dedicated build-up, which is exactly what our crews are certified for.

How is microcement different from Venetian plaster?

Microcement is a thin cement-based coating prized for seamless floors and a matte concrete look — it can be used underfoot. Venetian plaster is a lime-based finish burnished to a glossy, marble-like sheen, used decoratively on walls. Many projects combine both.

Do you work outside Bali?

Yes. PLASTER LAB is based in Kuta, Bali, and works across Jakarta and the rest of Indonesia — materials and a certified crew travel to the project.

Choose a finish that breathes

PLASTER LAB supplies PRATTA Exclusive lime plaster, marmorino, and tadelakt — breathable, anti-mold, beautifully natural — with certified application across Bali, Jakarta, and Indonesia.
